Nairobi is probably the best place in East Africa for buying African curios, souvenirs, traditional fabrics, beads, pottery, rugs, weaving and wool. There are several good local crafts markets, featuring pieces from Kenya and as far afield as West Africa. If you’re looking for just about anything else, from clothing to electronics, Nairobi also boasts a number of excellent, modern shopping centres and supermarket / department stores.
One of the unique shopping experiences is the Maasai Market where over 350 craftsmen traders and artisans come to sell unique arts and crafts. The abundance and quality of arts and crafts in unrivaled, allowing both tourists and residents to appreciate Kenya’s and Africa’s finest works. The Maasai Market is set up in Village Market on Fridays and Yaya Center on Sundays.
The Stanley’s Shopping Arcade houses Gift Shops, Newspaper Stand, Beauty Salon, Bookshop, Boutique, Curio shop, Chemist, Optician, Locksmith, Art Gallery and Car Rental outlets.
