| Sarova Hotels Launches New Tents at its Maasai Mara Property |

As part of their continuing commitment to improving the Kenyan hospitality product, Sarova Hotels has in the last 18 months carried out a phased refurbishment of its 22 year old Sarova Mara Game Camp. The property is located inside the World famous Maasai Mara National Reserve.
Phase 1 of the project, completed in late 2005 at a cost of over USD1.5m, focused on the refurbishment of 55 standard tents to a superior level which included 2 family tents as well. In the second phase, estimated to cost about USD 2.5 million, the balance of 20 tents are being upgraded to a luxury tent level and are branded as Club tents. |
Of these, 8 have already been commissioned and the balance 12 and 2 family tents will be complete by early December 2006. The development of the club tents is a move by Sarova to tap into the affordable luxury segment of the market.
The new tents are luxurious and incorporate much larger bedrooms and bathrooms spaces with separate showers and toilets and incorporate features such as mini bars, safes, hair dryers and several soft accessories aimed at soothing the senses of the luxury traveler. |
| These refurbishments come at time when the Maasai Mara National Reserve has been ranked in the top five preferred tourist attractions in the World, in a recent report released by the World Wildlife Foundation. Sarova Hotels Sales Director Jimi Kariuki said of the new tents: “Today's traveler wants more than just a clean room. They want freshness and space. Our new tents offer just this. Our Luxury Club Tents offer lots of in-room & out-door space. The freshness is brought out through the interior décor which appeals to the sense of relaxation” |
