Sarova Hotels last month hosted a group of UK Eye Surgeons from MEAK: Transforming lives in Kenya MEAK (Medical and Educational Aid to Kenya) a charitable organization established in the UK recently carried out free eye surgeries for those less fortunate residing in the remoter parts of Kenya.

One of the medical missions were carried out in Taita and the team, comprising of doctors and nurses, stayed at Sarova Taita Game Lodge and managed to screen staff and family members suffering from eye ailments. During the mission, the team was able to see most patients with eye problems, dispensing medicine and glasses (at a fee of Ksh250/- per pair) as need be.

Surgeries for patients with cataracts and minor surgeries were performed. To date MEAK have carried out a remarkable 9 heart trips and 18 eye missions in Kenya; a commendable initiative indeed.
