Safari Experience
Sarova Mara Game Camp is located in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve in South West Kenya. It is 260 km from Nairobi which is an hour flight from Nairobi and 20-minute drive from the airstrip or a 5 hour drive from Nairobi. The Camp is set on an elevation surrounded by two streams.
The Great Migration
The Masai Mara National Reserve is 1510 sq km of open rolling grasslands that extend from Tanzania's Serengeti. The spectacle reaches its pinnacle every July and August when over a million wildebeest, zebras and gazelles migrate in search of lush grass and return for greener pastures by November. The Great Migration is a phenomenon for being the largest movement of animals on the planet.
Ol Boma Dining
Dining within a Maasai boma, complete in its essence is an experience that allows one to have an intimate feel of the sense of community and family that a Masaai family enjoys day to day. It includes Kenyan-style barbeques and traditional dishes. This is an experience that is ideal for large groups.
Game Drive
Venture into the reserve in a 4x4 open Land Rover as you drive across stunning terrain searching for wildlife. There has been 95 species of animals, amphibians & reptiles as well as over 400 species of birds recorded. From the spectacle of the roaring King of the jungle to other plentiful game, the experience is both thrilling and enthralling. Itineraries include all-day safaris or morning and evening game drives.
Balloon Safari
The adventure begins just before dawn. Departure is from a perfect natural launch site and flames from the hot air balloon burners light the darkness as the crews inflate their craft. The first pink tones of sunlight flicker across the skies as the balloon fills, then rises. Suspended in a basket beneath the rainbow-colored canopy, you're off for a wildlife-viewing adventure from an entirely different perspective. What amazes most first-time balloonists is the absolute stillness - the silence as you float above the plains and the rivers of the Masai Mara is unrivaled.
Nature Walk
Stroll through our sprawling grounds with our indigenous Masai guides as they take you on a journey through nature, trees and plant life. A view through their eyes can often make us aware of what we sometimes miss in our daily lives.
There are also opportunities to reverse carbon footprint with tree planting which we can do for you or if you wish you can plant yourself.
Visits to Masai Homesteads
The Maasai are a wondrous, semi nomadic Tribe filled with Tradition and Folklore that have captured "the intrigue of" people from all cultures across the world. There is something grounded, connected and mesmerizing about them.
"A Maasai warrior is a fine sight. Those young men have, to the utmost extent, that particular form of intelligence which we call chic; daring and wildly fantastical as they seem, they are still unswervingly true to their own nature, and to an immanent ideal." Karen Blixen
Bush Dining
Bush dining is a thrilling yet serene experience. There is nothing quite like arriving at a breakfast in the bush after an early morning game drive or gazing into the Savannah as the sun sets while you sip on a cocktail and a roaring fire keeps the slight evening chill at bay.
