BEYOND THE RESORT
Olpejeta, Oljogi, Borana and Lewa wildlife conservancies
These are notable, privately run wildlife conservancies that work closely with surrounding communities to provide a safe sanctuary for some of Kenya’s most endangered wildlife species. The conservancies are home to the big five game including the black rhino among a diverse host of fascinating flora & fauna.
Ngare Ndare Forest Reserve
A lush indigenous forest at the northern foothills of Mt. Kenya, home to waterfalls and 200-year-old trees that stretch into the canopy supporting a rich variety of bird and animal life. The forest is a vital corridor that links the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Northern Kenya to Mt. Kenya forest reserve, one which elephants have been using for centuries. Guests can explore the calming lush forest through guided walks.
Lolldaiga Ranch
Explore this stunning landscape, a 55,000-acre cattle ranch and wildlife conservancy just 20km, Northwest of Mount Kenya. Rich in history, the ranch holds well-documented archeological sites including cave paintings and burial grounds. The ranch has been managed by one family for three generations with a strong regard for wildlife and conservation.
