Wangari Maathai Wing
Specially designed to offer the solo lady traveller peace, convenience and comfort while drawing inspiration from the lady who did it all - Wangari Maathai.
She was a Matriarch. A Heroine. A Visionary. Wangari Maathai exemplified courage, passion and resilience through her great work and achievements. And just like the title in her memoir, she was unbowed. Her selflessness and dedication to people and country saw Wangari become the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004 for her contribution to sustainable development, democracy and peace - one of many awards for this woman of firsts. Today, her memory remains alive, immortalized in great works of literature, art, and a robust environmental preservation movement.
In keeping true to Sarova Panafric's reflection of African heritage while providing high and modern standards of comfort, we have captured her essence in the exclusive Wangari Maathai Wing, a first of its kind comprising 6 ensuite rooms dedicated solely to female travelers.
Right from the entrance of the wing, your attention is caught by a full-size portrait of a smiling Wangari, one of a selection of cheery artwork, consisting of murals inscribed with her most famous quotes. Delicate complimentary petit fours await each guest, placed on the study desk along with reading material written by, and for women trailblazers. All amenities provided offer convenience as much as they do comfort with careful consideration going to make them eco-friendly. The wing is served by female-only waiting staff who include housekeeping, room service, and security personnel.
