OUR GREEN IMPRINT

We are proudly plastic-free, having eliminated all plastic use from our properties including single-use straws and bottles. Our pioneer water bottling plant is in place, effectively providing safe drinking water packaged in glass bottles at the Sarova Lion Hill lodge. The success of this venture has inspired rollout in our other units, which begins soon. Our cooking processes, designed to minimize food waste and our state-of-the-art cold rooms and refrigeration facilities are geared to avoid spoilage. Elaborate effluent treatment plants are set up and maintained by highly trained personnel. Beach cleanups carried out on a monthly basis by staff at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort in collaboration with KWS have significantly reduced the accumulation of waste along the pristine coastline. All Sarova lodges have organic kitchen gardens that allow guests to handpick an assortment of vegetables and herbs from extensive gardens from which they can create their own meals. The farm-to-plate concept is at the heart of our culinary operation.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Each Sarova Property has CSR projects aimed at supporting their local communities and empowering in the hop to create sustainable development as well as environmental conservation through awareness.

We source most of our food ingredients locally in Kenya to maintain sustainability. Our meat and dairy products are sourced from local producers with a reputation for international standards and products free of harmful chemicals.

Our corporate conscience towards community is hinged on three key pillars; education, health and sustainence. In the Masai Mara for example we have contributed towards building Sekanani School and continue to assist the progress of students, we have been a major sponsor of helping youth produce award winning "Tales from the Slums", a collaboration with Films without Borders and the Sandy Vohra Foundation and train and employ people from our locale. We allow access for community to our clinics at our lodges, and over the COVID crisis the board of directors partnered with private foundations and the red cross to provide food bags for the slum areas in Nairobi and Sarova Hotels provided meals for Kenyatta National Hospital Medic Staff. We are committed!
